Zerith - Year 2370

Zerith is a land of magic. The land is old, and ancient wizards once ruled the whole continent which spanned this world. Capable of altering the fabric of reality itself, the wizards went to war with each other, power hungry, paranoid, trying to eliminate their foes. Great artefacts were created, and used to raise battalions of dragons, harpies, and other magical beasts to fight for the wizards. Armies of the dead swept across the land, slaying all in their path and bolstering their numbers. Great battles waged by the unwilling soldiers spilt oceans of blood upon the ground, permanently scarring parts of the great continent.

The war spilled into the realms of shadow and fey, as the wizards worked hard to find any resource to defeat one another. The elves of the fey fought back, sealing rifts where they could, stranding several thousand innocents in the mortal realm. The shadow realm was not so lucky, as great portals opened from the realm of man, pulling great chunks of land, buildings and denizens into the realm of man, and pouring great floods from the oceans into the realm of darkness, until it was little more than a giant sea. The people of Zerith were terrified, and as whole towns and cities were consumed by death and fire, the survivors fled into hiding, hoping the end of the world would come quickly and painlessly.
As wizards were slowly killed, their commanded subjects were then free to roam the world, killing other wizards for vengeance, until only a few wizards were left, so drained of their magics that they too, soon expired. Ages later, the land had settled, with their various strongholds and keeps abandoned, littered across the landscape. The people of the land emerged from their hiding locations, starting new towns and villages, hoping to rebuild their lives from the ashes. The stranded fey creatures retreated to the wilds, and the world was quiet for quite some time. More

Centuries pass, and while the land still bears the scars of the ancient war, little else remains that affects the daily lives of the people going about their business. Great magic and far off towers are of little consequence when the next crop must be brought in to survive the winter. Some cities and towns have managed to thrive and flourish, while communities of the more magical races stay out of reach from the more mundane races, living a more nomadic lifestyle.
